Bacillus Subtilis

Bacillus subtilis fungicide for plants growth and disease control

Bacillus subtilis fungicide is a common promote plant growth rhizobacteria (PGPR) and biocontrol agent uses in agriculture, plays a significant role in promote plant growth and increase plants abiotic stress resistance. When applied to soil, B. subtilis is highly competitive and can out-compete other soil microbes, making it an effective biological control for suppressing fungal diseases.  Where to buy natural plant fungicide, Novobac is professional manufacturer to supply both powder and liquid suspension products for option.

Antagonistic Activity

Antagonistic Activity of Bacillus Subtilis

The natural plant fungicide inhibits some pathogenic fungal diseases:

a)   Tomato botrytis

b)   Cotton verticillium wilt

c)   Cotton fusarium wilt

d)   Pinellia ternate root rot

e)   Kiwi root rot

f)   Cotton blight

g)   Rice blight

h)  Citrus canker

i)   Apple ringspot

Mode of Action

  • During the growth period of B. subtilis, various active substances such as subtilin, polymyxin, and gramicidin are produced, which have been shown to effectively inhibit pathogenic bacteria, and increase root development, improve nutrient uptake, and increase overall crops growth and yield. It can also enhance plant tolerance to abiotic stress such as drought and high salinity.
  • Induce systemic acquired resistance (SAR), which activates the plant’s defense mechanisms against bacterial pathogens before they have a chance to cause damage.
  • Colonizing at the rhizosphere (the region of soil around the roots of plants) and foliage, which helps to prevent the germination of spores in plant pathogens and stops pathogens.
  • Unlock and solubilize essential elements like phosphorous, calcium, potassium, and magnesium that are found in the soil, making them readily available to plant roots.

Benefit

  • Prevent and biocontrol bacterial and fungal diseases
  • Retrieves soil quality and fertility
  • Promote plant growth and increase yields.
  • Strengthen plant-microbe interaction by Biofilm formation
  • Ameliorate abiotic stress by enzymatic and hormonal regulation
  • Inhibit spreading of antibiotic resistance gene and transposons
  • Elicit induced systemic resistance (ISR)
  • Potent biocontrol agent by lipopeptide production

Application Rate

Soil drench: Apply 3 kg per acre, mixed with water and apply by soil drench, irrigation or spray while sowing to cultivation medium. Reapply every 28 days during grow season. For better result, suggest to apply with other bacteria and fungi together.

Foliar spray: Apply 2.5 gram per liter of water, start applications at 20-30% bloom or when conditions favor disease development. and Repeat at 7 days interval or when conditions favor disease development, For small trees, reduced spray volumes may be used as long as complete coverage can be obtained with less water per hectare.

When should I use bacillus subtilis fungicide?

The best time to add it to your farmland when the soil is moist and warm, as these conditions are favorable for the growth and survival of the microorganism.

  • For plant disease control, it is best to apply it before or at the beginning of the growing season, as the microorganism can help protect crops from disease-causing pathogens.
  • For improving soil health, it is best to apply it in the fall, after the growing season, as the microorganism can help to decompose organic matter and improve soil structure over the winter.
  • It is also important to consider the timing of other management practices, such as tillage or fertilization, and to apply it at a time when these practices will not disrupt its growth and survival.

How long can Bacillus subtilis powder survive?

It can sruvive in harsh conditions because of its ability of form endospores. So it can survive for a long time in soil, from several months to several years, depending on the conditions. Factors such as temperature, moisture, and competition with other microorganisms can affect the survival. In general, B. subtilis can survive longer in dry, cold soils than in warm, moist soils.
